Real Estate Agents are often epitomised as the least trusted of all professions but what about the ancillary property services that surround them? Estate agents rely very little on newspapers, flyers and agency walk-ins these days but are now super reliant on their real estate industry websites

Its not spoken of that agents not only totally rely on these sites but also actively lobby them to keep the publics own listings out. Its an eye opener to know that agents and the real estate websites that they use have a vested interest in To have such strong ties is not at all a healthy and productive outcome for an independent property seller.

With no pwer to prevent the extremely poor behaviour the PropertyNow Australian portal has sought the intervention of the industry champion of consumers rights that is called the ACCC.

The moniker signifies Australian Consumer and Competition Commission. It is hoped and appears very likely that the market power will be found to have breached the laws that were designed to engender fair competition.

The rules are particularly powerful. There are massive penalties and other remedies that come into effect if a company breaks the very serious Competition Laws.

It seems breathtaking that an already successful brand and one which is a recognisable would jeopardise its own business operations with the prospect of securing very little of value from the unprecedented attack and one which in any case, can deliver so little upside potential.

It only needs a proof that the massive property site is in fact a Market Power, in order for the allegations to stick a serious breach of law.

If so then the market value of the media firm could fall dramatically.

With the arrival of any such news,the support of the real estate agencies might evaporate.. The decision to try to control the tiny site may prove mightily disconcerting for the entrenched portals.

The policies created by those who manage the estate agent onlyportals in an effort to keep private sellers listings as banned listings are sure to come undone.

The co-ercion of real estate agent websites to keep the minor players out of the game is one thing, but when it begins to hit sellers in the hip pocket, then its an entirely different prohibition.

The cause of the realtor only websites, to exclude for sale by owner sellers will eventually fail Eventually the portals and agents will need to accept the umpires verdict.

The regulatory principles should drive the speed of these changes.

The cartel among real estate agencies and property portals in order to secure the current world order is a national contention in property but slowly agents are beginning starting to lose their exclusive position and so private sellers are growing their sales numbers.
